Sammy Hagar raises $20,000 for victims of Hurricane Katrina
A new message from Sammy has appeared on the net:: ""So, on the "Long Road to Cabo" I showed you what it's like behind the scenes so now I'm asking you to bring your video cameras and show me what goes on behind the scenes in hotel rooms, ticket line, beach, airport, planes, etc.
I want your version of the bash. Use as little footage of the band performing as possible because I'm filming and recording that part. *Get together with each other and put video footage together, edit it to approximately 15 minutes or more if necessary and send it to my editor* Paul Ware by mid November so I can put together with my footage and make the "Long Road to Cabo Part 2" for the Wabo's new cd to be ready for Feb./March 06. Big bonus time baby come on! Sounds like fun to me and I can't wait!"" |
September 14th 2005:
The Cabo Club has announced that Sammy Hagar will play his world-famous Cabo Wabo Cantina for the annual "A Shot at the Cabo Wabo and Birthday Bash".
"A Shot at the Cabo Wabo" will take place on October 1, to be followed by the "Birthday Bash" on October 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13.
Sammy Hagar stated, "I need a night to recover in between shows." When asked about guest stars for this year's festivities, Sammy continued, "Mikey [Anthony], of VAN HALEN fame, will be joining us for a few nights." He also said, "Kenny Chesney is threatening to come down to Cabo again this year!"
At last year's Baja Blowout, Kenny Chesney's band tore up numerous David Lee Roth-era VAN HALEN tunes. Billy Duffy of THE CULT ripped open classic CULT riffs and almost stole the show. The guest stars often take over the stage during the yearly Cabo Wabo Rock celebrations at the seaside mega-resort town of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
SAMMY HAGAR AND THE WABORITAS have been touring this summer in their "The Tequila Made Me Do It". New sets, new music and Sammy's announcement of future free shows has generated lots of interest from the normally outrageous "RedHeads", Sammy's core group of fans. All of the shows this year in Cabo are free.
Abel Sanchez's VAN HALEN book, "Van Halen 101" is now available for purchase from Author House. After two years of research and a lifetime of being a VAN HALEN fan, Sanchez has meticulously crafted a most excellent comprehensive guide to the amazing history, music, impact and influence of the mighty VH. |

The new Sammy Hagar song is now available for users on the Forum.
Message from Sammy
"Yo, Red Heads!
I've recorded a new song. We re-waboed an old, classic Staple Singers hit called “I'll Take You There,” now called “Let Me Take You There.” It's only being released on radio for now. I'll figure out what else to do with it later. Sorry – no new record yet, but I'm working on it.
Call your local rock radio station and request “Let Me Take You There.” If they don't play it, you know what to do.
See you on tour.
PS – I think the Wabos sound awesome on this track "

""Van Halen lead vocalist Sammy Hagar and other band members reportedly are at odds, with Hagar threatening to bail on the rockers' current U.S. tour.
Hagar's relationship with his bandmates has been stressed since guitarist Eddie Van Halen fired the singer's road crew, the Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles rock 'n' roll Web site reported Wednesday.
Hagar has planned a side tour of eight shows in 10 days opening for Ted Nugent in December with rumors of a full blown spring-summer tour as Nugent's opening act in the works.
This is it for VH with Sammy. There will be no other tours or new album, an unidentified source said."" [Big News Network.com] |

August 22nd 2004:
With its best-of set now in stores and two new singles on the air, Van Halen continues to add shows to its reunion run with singer Sammy Hagar.
The itinerary now stretches into early October, and includes newly added stops in Champaign, IL; Little Rock, AR; Las Vegas; and Albuquerque. Tickets for all four dates will hit the box office this month. More dates are yet to come, according to the band's website.
In June, Van Halen launched its first tour with singer Sammy Hagar at the mic since 1995. Hagar and the group split on bad terms in 1996, but patched things up late last year.
Before hitting the road, the group recorded three new songs, all of which are included on "The Best of Both Worlds," a two-disc compilation that also houses previously released cuts from the band's studio albums with Hagar and original singer David Lee Roth.
Released in late July, "The Best of Both Worlds" sold about 138,000 copies during its first week out and debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 album chart. Now in its second week on the chart, the set rests at No. 13.
"It's About Time," one of the three new cuts with Hagar, clocks in at No. 13 on trade publication Radio & Records' most-recent Rock National Airplay chart, and follow-up cut "Up for Breakfast"--also new--has been added to radio-station playlists throughout the country.

Van Halen's current American tour ends on October 2 and the big question is what are their plans for the rest of the world.
"It's funny that you mention that because we were talking about what are we going to do next and the powers that help us be will all figure that out in the next couple of months" Sammy Hagar tells Undercover News. "We'd love to come down if we have a chance to do it."
"When you leave this country with a band the calibre of this, it is not like we can go "hey lets just go to Australia to play'. The promoter has to invite" Alex Van Halen says. "The promoters in Australia want to start telling the fans to rally up and hopefully they will invite us over there to play".
The Van Halen reunion coincides with the release of their Best of Both Worlds compilation album. On of the key songs from the record that didn't make their last Best Of album is the David Lee Roth sung 'Hot For Teacher. "Ed and I were big fans of UK music and Alan Holdswoth, King Crimson, Bill Bruford and that whole lot" Alex says. "One morning, Ed and I went in with a couple of six packs and that's what happened. We weren't really thinking. We just played a particular piece of music Ed had it in two or three takes, that was it. We kept it. I wish there was more depth to it but the reality is when you don't think, that is when your true self comes out. That is a good glimpse of what goes on in my head".
Sammy adds "Hot For Teacher, my comment about that…before I was in Van Halen I always looked at them as competition. I didn't like Dave. I never thought about being in the band. By 1984, when I heard Hot For Teacher, when I heard Alex kick that drum thing up, it pissed me off it was so good. It was kicking ass. I was jealous. That drum intro is unbelievable. The whole song is kicking ass, it is ripping. That drum intro is killing".
Van Halen hope to be in Australia early 2005 … if someone gets around to inviting them.

May 14th 2004:
Van Halen have announced that Silvertide and Shinedown will open their summer reunion tour with Sammy Hagar . Silvertide will perform from June 11 in Greensboro, North Carolina, through July 11 in Auburn Hills, Michigan; Shinedown will play from July 19 in Chicago through August 20 in Los Angeles.
In what's shaping up to be a memorable year for Van Halen fans with a tour and some new music, there are also plans to release the band's "Live Without A Net" concert on DVD, and the re-mastered VH CD's from the Sammy Hagar-era, according to Andrew at Melodicrock.com .
"Live Without A Net" was released 18 years ago on VHS, and featured concert footage from the band's first tour with Sammy Hagar, from New Haven, CT in 1986. This performance is much more dynamic than Van Halen's other live concert release, 1993's "Live: Right Here, Right Now," which was released on DVD several years ago. Fans have been clamoring for years for it to be released on DVD, and know it appears they're getting their wish.
The LWAN DVD is due for release on July 22nd in Japan, by Warner Bros. With Warners working on this release, it shouldn't be too long before the DVD release finds its way to the rest of the world as well.
Melodicrock is also reporting that the Sammy-era Van Halen studio albums, which include "5150," "OU812," "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge," and "Balance" are rumored to be set for re-mastering and re-release later this year as well. The first six David Lee Roth-era albums were re-mastered and re-released by Warner Bros. in 2000. |
May 4th 2004:
According to Hits Daily Double , the first single from Van Hagar will be "Up for Breakfast" , one of three tracks produced by Glen Ballard . The other two are "Learning to See" and "It's About Time" . All three cuts are expected to surface on the band's upcoming best-of set, tentatively due this summer. . |

surprises for you guys (if possible)! Because we all know Cabo Wabo is a way of life, the weekend will start early. Van Halen will absolutely NOT be performing. Would be great, but we are in
the middle of VH rehearsals and I'll be slammin' to make it up to Tahoe
myself. There will be other friends coming in throughout the weekend, not just
Sunday, May 2. Other surprises are yet to come! Thanks for your enthusiasm. Gonna be awesome. See you in Tahoe.
Love, Sammy" -- Thanks to the official site for the statement! |

"VH REUNION
Message From Sammy!
Sorry I couldn't keep everyone up to speed on the VH stuff but until it was final we all swore to secrecy. So lay off my webmaster!!
First of all, the Wabos are great! They will be on pay through all this and everything is upfront with them. They might be doing gigs in Tahoe at the Wabo with other artists this year and writing new songs at our new studio (Red Rocker Recording).
We're gonna have a blast at the opening of the Tahoe Wabo and the Tequila bash in Atlantic City. Then I'm off to VH rehearsals. I'm totally excited about the tour. The music's a w e s o m e! "It's About Time" 1st track, Yikessssssss!!
See ya at the b-bash in October!
Love ya,
Sammy"

20th 2002: Sammy
called into 101.1 WRIF today in Detroit, and
I must say, what a great interview. Here are
the highlights from the interview:
Sammy
said that he has been playing with Michael Anthony
and Planet US over the last few weeks.
Sammy
mentioned that he is excited to be closing the
show in Detroit.
Sammy
mentioned that this time next year, he plans
on a Journey/Sammy Hagar tour, where he would
play for about 45 minutes, Journey for 45 minutes,
then Planet US for 45 minutes.
Sammy
is still bitter over the person who stole the
30ft Blow Up Cabo Wabo bottle from the Detroit
show 2 years ago.
Michael
Anthony will be making special appearances on
the current tour!
He
has been rehearsing the last few weeks, and
is ready to hit the road for the tour. He mentioned
that Planet US have 2 songs recorded, and that
they will finish an album in October. Look for

PRESS
RELEASE:
Rock
legend Sammy Hagar (Van Halen, Montrose) and
HUTCH singer Joe Hutchinson have co-written
a song
tentatively titled "Not 4 Sale" which
will appear on
Hagar's Autumn release this year.
Sammy
discovered HUTCH 's music while watching the
Food Network's FOOD NATION series with Chef
Bobby
Flay. "I heard his song, 'All The Money
In The
World'... I loved that line, 'All the money
in the
world.'
It
stuck in my head and I wrote a song basically
with
that concept. I thought it was only right to
call Joe
and let him know he inspired me and to offer
him half
of my song for the inspiration. "I'm all
for helping
new artist's any way I can."
Joe Hutchinson is flattered by the nod from
Hagar. He
explains “Most of us are borrowing from the
Beatles
and other giants, so when an artist of Sammy’s
stature
borrows from an unknown like me, it adds a great
level
of legitimacy to what I'm doing as a songwriter.”
HUTCH’s
song “All The Money In The World” can be heard
on their upcoming Smile Records release “Turn
It
Around” due in stores on May 28th, or visit
http://www.hutchworks.net

Heard
the latest rumor? The proposed "Sam &

26th 2002:
Sammy
Hagar, Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo and Michael
Anthony have recently completed a two-song demo
tape at Sammy's home studio in Marin County,
California. Neal Schon stated "in only
ONE day they laid down two kick-ass songs that
fu*%in ROCK!" One of the songs, tentatively
titled "Vertigo", will be presented
for consideration on the soundtrack for the
upcoming summer blockbuster "Spiderman".
"Peeping Through a Hole" is the name
of the other song that they recorded. The working
name of the band is Planet Us. Neal and Sammy
are also considering the idea of doing some
live performances during the Fall/Winter of
2002 after they have wrapped up their separate
summer tour seasons. Look for "Planet Us"
to be part of the Meltdown in Cabo this coming
October.

Apparently
there is a new rumor floating around on the
Internet, and this time, it involves Sammy.
Melodicrock.com
is reporting that Sammy Hagar is forming a new
"supergroup" with Journey's Neil Schon,
drummer Deen Castronovo, former Guns 'N Roses
guitarist Slash and, wait for it, Van Halen's
Michael Anthony. Stay tuned to find out more
information on this!
In
other news, apparently Van Halen has split with
their record company. Does this say they are
still planning on returning to the stage soon?

22nd 2001:
The
following press release was issued last night
by Sammy Hagar for release this morning. Thanks
to Reuters for faxing me a copy for the Van
Halen News Desk...
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 18, 2001
SAMMY HAGAR'S "CABO WABO CANTINA"
ROCKS WITH THE SOUNDS OF
METALLICA IN A SURRPISE PERFORMANCE BY KIRK
HAMMETT
SAMMY TO JAM WITH JASON BONHAM'S BAND, "HEALING
SIXES" FOR
SHOWS ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, MAY 17 & 18
Sammy
Hagar's "Cabo Wabo Cantina," has been
a celebrity destination since Hagar became an
active owner and host at the hot Cabo San Lucas,
Mexico nightspot in 1989. Since then, the legend
has grown and "drop-in" jams have
become a regular occurrence.
Last
Friday night, a local band of Mexican rockers
calling themselves "Vitamin T" were
in the middle of a set, jamming to a cover of
the Metallica song, "Until It Sleeps."
At the mid-point of the song, vacationing Metallica
lead guitarist Kirk Hammett walked into the
club. In the true spirit of the "Cabo Wabo
Cantina," Hammett immediately made his
way to the stage and joined "Vitamin T'
for over an hour in an impromptu jam.
"That's
what the place was built for," Sammy commented
upon hearing the news. "It's like a second
home to me and that stage just loves to be graced
with the loud sounds of rock."
Musicians
and celebrities over the years who have come
to the club include Van Halen, Bono, Alice Cooper,
David Crosby, Tony Curtis, Jerry Cantrell, John
Entwistle, Rachel Hunter, Chris Issak, Oscar
De La Hoya, Raquel Welch, Slash, Iggy Pop, Dennis
Rodman, Matt Sorum, Steve Jones, Randy Newman,
John Taylor, Tori Spelling, Vince Neil, Bob
Weir, Lars Ulrich, Rob Zombie and many others
over the years. In addition to the Cabo Wabo
Cantina, Hagar has spun off a number of successful
businesses including the award-winning Cabo
Wabo tequila.
Hagar
himself will be dropping in the Cabo Wabo Cantina
for two nights of performances with Jason Boluiam's
band "Healing Sixes," this Thurs.
and Fri. night (May 17, 18). Hagar has recently
been hard at work on an autobiography, telling
the true story behind his rise to rock stardom,
his years with and without Van Halen, and candid
reflections on his family and upbringing. He
is co-writing the book with long-time rock journalist
and friend, Dick Richmond, formerly of the St.
Louis Post Dispatch.
Grammy
winning artist Sammy Hagar has sold over 40
million albums worldwide including 15 solo albums
(five are gold, five are platinum), six Van
Halen albums (all six multi-platinum worldwide)
and two Montrose albums (one platinum). Throughout
his career, Sammy has played to over 50 million
fans worldwide demonstrating the great songs
and quintessential rock vocals that have made
him a rock icon.
As
an added bonus, the following link
has pictures from the event by a fellow RedHead.

25th 2001:
There
has been a lot of confusion among visitors of
this site. I want to make it clear that this
site is not the Official Sammy Hagar
Web Site. Many people believe that this is in
some way an official site, and leading to misinterpreted
information. The Official site is located here.
There
have been a lot of rumors going around about
Sammy Hagar taking a break from his current
band and joining with Van Halen. As of now,
these are mearly rumors. Nothing that I have
seen is true.
Today
I had an opportunity to witness something that
touched my heart, and brought tears to my eyes.
Today, American Airlines sponsered a Dream Flight
from Chicago O'Hare to Orlando, FL. They used
one of their 757 aircraft, and loaded it up
with kid's who were terminally ill with cancer
(Ronald McDonald House) and flew them down there
for 4 days. This brought a tear to a 23 yr.
old's eyes. You don't know what you have in
life until you step back and observe whats around
you. Sammy, this made me realize what you did
with your long hair really did go to a good
cause |

TOP 40 stations playing "Deeper Kind Of
Love" "Little Bit More" and "Tropic
Of Capricorn." This will definitely

(Alice in Chains),
John
Entwhistle (The Who) and Russ Vallory (Journey).
The
bonus track on the Japanese release will be
a live version of High
And Dry Again.
